Sermon Discussion Questions

Thanks for these questions, Nathan!

1. What is the content of the Gospel? Do you ever find it frustratingly and/or strangely difficult to convey the joy of the Gospel?
2. Why was spreading the news of Jesus Christ especially dangerous for Roman Christians? Has evangelism ever directly cost you anything?
3. What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given? Besides the Gospel, what’s the best news you’ve ever received? What is the difference between good advice and good news?
4.The cultural values of early Rome (reflected in the story of Romulus and Remus) give insight into why the Gospel might have been shameful for early Christians. What cultural values of our society might attempt to scorn and mock our faith?
5. How did the Gospel get to Rome? How did the Gospel get to you and/or your family? (this might require some research into family history)
6. What are some temptations we have when faced with criticism over difficult Gospel claims and beliefs?
